Job Title: Psychologist

Status: From 25/08/2022

Location: Samos

Submit until: 30/07/2022

Program’s purpose:

EPAPSY, in collaboration with UNHCR, implements the Samos Peer Support project, which aims at the provision of psychosocial support services to residents of the Samos Closed and Controlled Access Center (CCAC). More specifically, asylum seekers who reside at the Samos CCAC receive MHPSS training by Community Psychosocial Workers (CPWs) and psychologists, so that they are able to facilitate self-help groups with other residents of the CCAC.

Responsibilities

  • Providing guidance, coordination, support, and capacity building to a team of 2 Community Psychosocial Workers (CPWs);
  • Close cooperation and reporting to the Project Coordinator and the Project Manager;
  • Close cooperation and reporting to the Samos UNHCR MFT team;
  • Design, implementation, and evaluation of the peer support intervention;
  • Using and completing evaluation and reporting forms;
  • Participation in regular outreach within the Samos Closed Controlled Access Center (CCAC).
  • Organization and participation in information sessions with other actors;
  • Communication with other professionals and institutions involved in the care of beneficiaries, if necessary;
  • Participation in clinical supervision, staff meetings, and facilitation of team meetings;
  • Design, organization, and participation in educational/training programs and seminars
  • Respects the ethics regarding the protection of personal data, confidentiality, and medical secrecy.

Required qualifications and experience

Education

  • University degree in Psychology
  • Professional license as a psychologist
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field would be an advantage.

Experience and Skills

  • Professional experience in psychosocial support in the refugee context, or any other relevant experience
  • Experience in peer support is a distinct advantage
  • Previous experience working in a refugee camp is valued
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Experience in voluntary work within the field of mental health would be an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexibility and ability to cope with change and under pressure
  • Crisis management skills would be considered an asset.
  • Motivation for learning and personal growth
  • Valid driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience would be an advantage.

Languages

  • Fluency in English and Greek (both verbal and written) is required.
  • Good knowledge of French would be an advantage.

Computer skills

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PPT) is considered essential.
